Intellavia Develops a CK Editor Plug-In for Google Event Tracking
Thursday, 29 March 2012
This is a plugin for the CKEditor. It is to assign anchor tags the onclick='_gaq.push' code to the tag and allow the user to input the information easily.
This plugin requires the google analytics to be pre- installed on the page. There is no check for the code to be present, as it should be typically installed in the header or footer.
This has been tested on CKEditor 3.x, enjoy!
Installation:
- Ensure that Google Analytics is installed on the site
- Drop the folder "googletracker" into the plugins directory of ckeditor.
- Modify the config.js to include the plugin + add it to the toolbar. Refer to EXAMPLE_CONFIG.js**
** NOTE: this may differ for various CMS, check the appropriate documentation for the CMS if button is not showing.
Use:
Once configured, a small button like the Google Analytics graphic will appear in the toolbar. It will also be available via the context menu (right click) for elements that are anchor tags. When selected, a dialog will display asking for the Category, Action, Label. Fill these out appropriately, label is optional. When ok is selected, the onclick will be assigned to the element with the Google event tracking code.

Restaurants – The main reasons people visit your website:
1) View locations, hours and get directions (should be on every page)
2) View menus ( link should be accessible from every page)
3) View food and atmosphere pictures ( link should be accessible from every page)
4) Read reviews (make sure you offer links on every page to these external sites and content)
5) Make reservations (link should be on every page)
Almost everything else is a distraction, especially music…oh and one more important thing, make sure your site is mobile friendly.
